Giudecca
HotelsinveniceGiudecca Island (Isola della Giudecca)
A quiet waterfront world facing St. Mark’s Basin—famous for Palladian churches, artisan ateliers, and the Redentore festival.
1. Overview
Giudecca stretches along the southern edge of Venice, separated from Dorsoduro by the wide Giudecca Canal.
Once industrial and monastic, today it remains residential and authentic, with promenades, gardens, and some of
the most open views of the city. Venetians value its slower pace and locals still gather on the fondamente for evening strolls.
For visitors, the island offers the best skyline of Venice: domes of the Salute, the bell tower of San Marco,
and palaces glittering across the basin. At sunset, the atmosphere is unforgettable. Giudecca is ideal for travelers
who want a glimpse of everyday life and space away from the crowds.
2. What to See
Il Redentore
Andrea Palladio’s 16th-century masterpiece, built after the plague of 1575–77, dominates Giudecca’s skyline.
The Redentore is both an architectural icon and the heart of Venice’s July festival.

Le Zitelle
Another Palladian church, linked with a convent that once sheltered young women without dowries.
Its waterfront position makes it one of the most photographed façades of the island.
Casa dei Tre Oci
The neo-Gothic “Three Eyes” palace now hosts exhibitions and events by the Berggruen Institute.
Official site.
Fortuny Factory
Since 1921, Giudecca has been home to Fortuny’s textile workshop, famous worldwide for hand-printed fabrics.
Visits are often by appointment: Showroom info.
Molino Stucky
The vast red-brick flour mill is today the Hilton Molino Stucky hotel, with rooftop views across the lagoon.
